Buenos Aires, 2011

Touched to be asked for thoughts on my times at Maria Teresa’s Casa, I’m imagining writing this note on the roof terrace, savoring coffee and the scent of star jasmine on a spring morning…Feeling so grateful that tango friends told me about Maria’s all those years ago…

Home. Warm and welcoming. A place to form fine friendships across the continents, understanding that your paths will likely cross again.

A place to share reflections on milongas, lessons, and life with other milongueros/as over breakfast.

Any day might include Maria’s introduction to a delightful neighborhood café – sometimes with a serenade by the proprietor – or an invitation to join her group at a concert or favorite milonga.

Fiestas and impromptu milongas in the flower-filled patio and salon at the Casa are especially lovely.

Always attentive to her guests, Maria is assisting you from the moment you arrive in the city – arranging reliable airport transport, helping with currency exchange.

She can connect you with Spanish teachers, leather workers/designers, guides for tours of the city and beyond, and tango instructors – there is a salon in the Casa for lessons.

With her deep friendship, devotion to her unique retreat in the city, and love for tango, Maria Teresa creates indelible memories in her Casa de la Alegria.
